What an awesome song!
I have to admit, I have not done much listening to “Please Please Me” as I’m a late Beatles fan mostly, with obvious exceptions. I’m the only one who missed out here though, because this track is awesome! It’s totally 1950′s with that chorus and jaunty feel. If you told me this was a Drifters song I would believe you. This is actually the b side to the eponymous single “Please Please Me,” imagine getting that 7″… would you ever take it off?
There was nothing terribly hard about it (except for that g sharp (“bluuuuue” at the end of the first verse, yikes)), it was mostly just a joy to play. It’s the songs like this that make this project so much fun. That kind of chorus part “Ask Me Why / I’ll say I love you / I’m always thinking of you” is just classic. The timing is perfect, John’s voice kills it and the arrangement is great.
This has been more of an eye opener than expected, sweet!
Hardest part: getting it together, not too hard though
